The 2010 Pulitzer Prizes in Journalism have been announced. The Pulitzer award: "Honoring Excellence in Journalism and the arts since 1917" - is awarded each year in various categories to journalist exemplifying excellence in their respective fields. The Pulitzer Prizes include categories in photojournalism as well as traditional written journalism.

This year’s winners in the photography categories are Breaking News Photography: Mary Chind and Feature Photography: Craig F. Walker.
The Pulitzer Journalism Photography award for breaking news photography was 'awarded to Mary Chind of The Des Moines Register for her photograph of the heart-stopping moment when a rescuer dangling in a makeshift harness tries to save a woman trapped in the foaming water beneath a dam.'

The Pulitzer Journalism Photography award for feature photography was 'awarded to Craig F. Walker of The Denver Post for his intimate portrait of a teenager who joins the Army at the height of insurgent violence in Iraq, poignantly searching for meaning and manhood.'
